5 ways to a gorgeous gallery wall

USE LIKE FRAMES IN A BOLD COLOR
For a home in Southampton, New York, designer Steven Gambrel transformed a hallway into a gallery, with a display of disparate black-and-white family photographs unified by red frames. The custom framing is by Chelsea Frames in Manhattan, and the picture lights are by Alexa Hampton for Visual Comfort & Co.
FOCUS ON TWO STATEMENT PIECES
In his Milan home, fashion designer Stefano Mortari has hung a pair of pleated-paper drawings by Gary Stephens so they abut in a corner and echo the configuration of the sectional sofa. The armchair is by Gio Ponti.
MAKE COLOR THE MAIN THEME
Architect Lee F. Mindel merged the classic with the contemporary in the living room of a 1902 Manhattan townhouse, grouping 26 color studies by Günther Förg into blocks that fit within the room's traditional molding. The armchairs are 1920s French, and the chaise is English Regency.
USE THE WHOLE WALL
Antique bird prints, in matching bamboo frames, are arranged throughout the double-height games room of a house decorated by Tom Scheerer on Jupiter Island, Florida. A pair of Mexican camp chairs and a 1930s leather-clad slipper chair surround a teak-and-steel cocktail table.
INCORPORATE VARIETY
At a Chicago apartment decorated by Nate Berkus andAnne Coyle, the library's glossy walls, painted in Farrow & Ball's Off-Black, serve as a striking backdrop for an eclectically framed mix of artwork. The sofa's striped upholstery and an ikat pillow by Madeline Weinrib add graphic touches.
