12 of the Most Jaw-Droppingly Beautiful Hamptons Living Rooms

2014.09.23

The beach might be the main draw of the Hamptons, but these luxe living rooms would make you secretly wish for a rainy day inside. Peek inside some of the stunning homes highlighted in Anthony Iannacci's new book, Design In The Hamptons.

JONATHAN ADLER & SIMON DOONAN

The sunken living room features area rugs designed by Adler, and the white table lamp was a prototype for his line of lighting.

FOX-NAHEM

This sunken living room was originally two stories, but Joe Nahem of Fox-Nahem lowered it to 11 feet to give more space to the second floor. The room features midcentury furniture and a handmade area rug from Fedora Design.

CHRISTOFF : FINIO

Architects Taryn Christoff and Martin Finio of Christoff : Finio Architecture designed this space, which features a spiral staircase that leads up to a loft area, which was left open to the rafters.

JOE D'URSO

D'Urso designed this custom sofa for his clients, which he paired with vintage Borsani chairs.

ROMAN AND WILLIAMS

Tambour paneling was used to replace Sheetrock throughout the home, owned by Robin Standefer and Stephen Alesch of design firm Roman and Williams. The living room features a 1960s buffalo leather sofa, a sheepskin, and a driftwood table.

DAVID GRESHAM & BENJAMIN PARDO

Various textures play off each other in the neutral living room. The mirrored coffee table and sofa were designed by Gresham's friend and colleague, Joe D'Urso.

TOM FLYNN

The room opens to the outdoors, so Flynn used acrylic indoor/outdoor fabrics as well as cotton-linen cushions and throw pillows. He designed the sofas as well as the bamboo coffee table.

TONY INGRAO & RANDY KEMPER

During warmer months, designers Ingrao and Kemper's sunken garden makes for an outdoor living room. The couple named the garden Woodhouse Park in honor of the original owners, Lorenzo and Mary Woodhouse, who loved gardens.

ROBERT STILIN

Stilin chose midcentury furnishings and natural materials for the space, which he paired with contemporary photography by H & D Zielske.

THAD HAYES

The double-height living room features glass-fronted wine racks and blue accents, like the custom sofas and the lava stone coffee table designed by Hayes.

TODD MERRILL

This stark white living room serves as a gallery-like setting for these carefully-chosen pieces, like a Belgian Gervan segmented lounge chair, a blue Paul Laszlo armchair, and a Zaha Hadid prototype bench.

YABU PUSHELBERG

The glass, screen, and slatted cedar oceanfront wall in George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg's living room is composed of three separate panels that allow the wall to completely disappear when pushed open.
