PIECES FOR YOUR HOME THIS WINTER
2014.12.08
These hot new releases from the world of design are sure to make your home a stand out.
SHELL COMPANY
New York designer David Weeks is best known for his sleek lighting, featuring forms that evoke bird crests, horns, and globes. Now he's conquering the table with elegant brass nesting bowls. With a shape borrowed from his classic shell sconce, the bowls have a matte glass-bead interior and a shining polished exterior.
OVER THE MOON
With its elemental shapes and luxurious materials, West Elm's Half Moon desk lamp is reminiscent of midcentury industrial design. A bronze shade and solid marble base are augmented by brass accents; the adjustable knob allows the light to be maneuvered in an arc.
SITTING PRETTY
The curved back and tapered brass legs of Bourgeois Bohème Atelier's La Briance chair were inspired by French furniture design from the 1950s, and the seat can be covered in one of the firm's standard fabrics—Lime Green velvet is shown.
THE CUTTING EDGE
For her Cracked Rim series, London glassware designer Hanne Enemark polishes the broken edges of bowls, then applies a layer of gleaming metal—22-karat gold, shown, or platinum.
TIME FOR TEA
The hand-thrown porcelain tea service from New York's Apparatus Studio bears a bold two-tone motif.
SOFT TOUCH
Designers Guild's new Gavanti blanket is woven from a mohair-and-wool blend that makes it both warm and lightweight.
ANGLE OF REPOSE
The Hampton sofa from Fendi Casa combines sumptuous cushions with a graceful structure of wenge-stained birch.
CANDLE POWER
Like a drawing in three dimensions, the POV Table Candleholder by Menu looks different from every angle and can be used singly or in clusters.
STEPPING UP
Madeline Weinrib's new cotton flatweave Lady Jane carpet is an update of traditional Oriental rugs, with a simpler pattern and subtler colors for today's interiors.
